To help make our neighborhood a welcoming place, volunteers maintain planters on State Street Boulevards, between 38th and 30th Streets.
One of ANA's first organized efforts was the 2015 rededication of an important neighborhood resource, Baker Field. Named for longtime, former Erie School Director, Isaac Baker, a new marker donated by Howard Industries was placed with family descendants in attendance.
In 2017, the Academy Neighborhood Association installed a walking path on Baker Field between E. 33rd and E. 32nd Streets, funded by Environment Erie. Walmart funded a path refurbishment in 2021.
Environment Erie funded the planting of Hawthorns and Service Berry trees along E. 32nd Street at Baker Field in 2017.
Donations from a local business and muscle from neighborhood volunteers helped to create a shared public space to enjoy Baker Field.
Neighbors regularly help to keep our spaces cleaner and safer by participating in annual clean-ups and maintaining barrels at Baker Field.
